Terms of Service

These terms apply to Hashavas Tefillin ("we", "us"), our website hashavastefillin.com, our phone line, our text messages, and our "If found" tags. By using the service you agree to them.
The service
Hashavas Tefillin is a free community service that helps return lost tefillin. People who lost tefillin and people who found tefillin post what they lost or found, and we let both sides know about possible matches. Owners can also register an "If found" tag so a finder can reach them. We do not hold, ship or verify any tefillin, and we cannot promise that lost tefillin will be found.
Your responsibilities
- Give accurate information, and post only about tefillin you really lost or found.
- Only claim tefillin that are yours. Finders should check the owner's description, or the answer to their secret question, before handing tefillin over.
- Arrange the return directly and safely with the other person. Meeting at a shul or leaving the tefillin with a gabbai is a good option.
- Don't use the service to harass anyone, collect other people's information, send spam, or for any unlawful purpose.
- Keep your private links and tag PINs private. Anyone who has them can manage your post or tag.
Text message program
Program: Hashavas Tefillin alerts and replies. Description: texts about your own post or tag (possible matches, reports that your tagged tefillin were found, updates from the other side) and replies to commands you send (such as LOST, FOUND, TAG, STATUS). You receive texts only if you agreed to them on our website, on our phone line, or by texting us first. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop receiving texts, and HELP for help, or call (866) 464-1918. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. See our Privacy Policy.
"If found" tags
A tag is linked to the first person who activates it with its PIN. If you give your tefillin to someone else, release the tag so the new owner can activate it with a new PIN. We may deactivate tags that are misused.
No warranty and limit of liability
The service is provided free and "as is". We don't guarantee that it will always be available or error-free, that matches will be correct, or that other users are who they say they are. To the fullest extent the law allows, Hashavas Tefillin is not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of the service, including loss of or damage to tefillin, or dealings between users.
Changes and ending use
We may change these terms or the service. If we change the terms, we will update the date at the top of this page. You can stop using the service at any time by deleting your posts and releasing your tags.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York.
